What a year it’s been!

Thank you to all our Foundation Club members and grant winners for being so patient as we’ve had to work around so many different school configurations to make sure you get your awards.

Not a winner yet? There’s still time! In addition to our monthly PopIn2Win prizes (a Chromebook this month!), our fourth quarter grant is in full swing, and it’s a doozy. We’re excited to extend our Meemic Masterpieces moniker to another artform: poetic rap. Foundation Club members can sponsor a student in grades K-12 to submit an original poetic rap (lyrics only) reflecting one of three themes: COVID-19  Pandemic, School Life in 2020 or Celebrating Diversity. Winning writers will receive a set of Beats Solo3 Wireless Headphones, and the sponsoring Club member will get a $300 school supplies grant. Sign up and get full details at PopIn2Win and Masterpieces pages! We’re still working out the details, but we also hope to showcase the winning students virtually reading their poetic rap. Stay tuned!

And in case you missed it, you can still watch our virtual art gallery featuring the winners of this year’s Masterpieces art contest. Check out the video and see all the winners at our Meemic Masterpieces page. It was a big hit, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Community Conversation on Bullying

This year, in partnership with Defeat the Label, the Community Conversation on Bullying is going virtual. You can watch the sessions live on Oct. 15 at Facebook.com/DefeattheLabel, or see the videos later on the Foundation’s Together Movement page, where you’ll find more resources to fight bullying. Michigan Teacher of the Year Owen Bondono will be giving a presentation, and the Michigan Regional Teachers of the Year will be part of a panel discussion.  Several other venerated speakers are on the agenda for this event, such as noted cyberviolence expert Dr. Kathryn Seigfried-Spellar of Purdue University and Dr. Jay Marks, a well-respected educator, highly regarded for his work in the area of equity focused on anti-racism, social justice, student engagement and other areas in diversity studies.

Best of all, it’s free and offers professional development certificates of completion. Check with your administrator to see if they’ll allow it to count towards your professional development hours.

In Your Words

We love to hear from our grant winners, especially on social media. When you win a Meemic Foundation grant, we’d appreciate it if you could post a photo of you and your prize, tag @Meemic and use the hashtag #MeemicFoundation. Here are a few recent winners.
