MTOY Gary Abud Jr. Joins Meemic Foundation Board

The Meemic Foundation, a nonprofit organization created by Meemic Insurance Company, announced that Gary Abud Jr. has been selected to serve on the Foundation’s board of directors.
 
Gary is a respected educational leader in the Southeast Michigan community.  Abud currently serves as a PreK-12 Instructional Coach for the Grosse Pointe Public School System in Michigan and as an Education Consultant for SAGA Educators Inc.  Prior to his Instructional Coach position, Abud served as a Physics and Chemistry Teacher for three years at Grosse Point North High School and was an Adjunct Professor for Saginaw Valley State University. 
 
Abud’s background also includes experience as a high school Chemistry, Physics and Biology teacher for multiple teaching positions. Abud has a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University, a master’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University and holds teaching certificates for provisional secondary science and reciprocal provisional secondary. 
 
Abud has received awards for his teaching excellence, including the Graphite Accelerated Educator, Crain’s 20 in Their 20s, 2014 Michigan Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Teacher Award from the International Society for Technology in Education and Michigan Teacher of Promise. Abud also holds memberships with the National Network of State Teachers of the Year, Network of Michigan Educators, Michigan Institute for Educational Management, Association For Supervision and Curriculum Development International Society for Technology in Education, Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning, American Modeling Teachers Association, Detroit Metro Area Physics Teachers Association, Metro Detroit Science Teachers Association and American Society of Nephrology.  
 
As a Meemic Foundation board member, Abud will contribute to the organization’s efforts to grow its influence, reach and partnership within the educational community.  Each board member participates in the work of the Foundation, using their experience and expertise to advocate for education.
