Greetings from The Meemic Foundation!

We hope you’re having a wonderful school year. We know you’ve been busy – and we have, too!

It’s not all sipping apple cider and eating pumpkin spice doughnuts. We have lots to talk about. Read on for more information.

Getting in the Swing for Education

This summer, 145 enthusiastic golfers and painters gathered at Indianwood Golf & Country Club in Lake Orion, MI, to raise money in support of the Foundation’s grant programs. It was our best year yet!
In addition to 18 beautiful holes of golf, there was a new event for the nongolfers: Painting With a Twist was on hand for a special, crafty event in the air conditioning (photo above). As they say, a good time was had by all. Check out this video and start making plans for next summer!

Give Your Media Space a $10,000 Makeover

The Meemic Foundation is collaborating with Lakeshore® to enhance your media room or classroom reading nook with Flex-Space Furniture grants valued up to $10,000 each!* From design to installation, winners will work with Lakeshore to select furniture pieces from their ever-growing Flex-Space furniture collection to enhance their elementary to high school learning environments.

Join the Conversation Against Bullying

Our annual partnership with Defeat the Label continues with this month’s Community Conversation on Bullying, an important event we’re so proud to sponsor. This year’s free event takes place on Oct. 27 and will again be virtual. You can watch the live-streamed event on Zoom or at Facebook.com/MeemicFoundation.

The event will kick off with a timely presentation from Evie Lynn Breuer, LMSW, CDP, “Returning to a New Normal – Turning Trauma into Resiliency.” This presentation is designed to help us look at trauma through a behavioral lens, start the conversation about our own trauma and take our next steps toward healing.

Other sessions include “Social Media and Youth: Threats and Solutions,” “Microaggressions 101” and the popular panel discussion with the Michigan Regional Teachers of the Year.

Sign up at https://tinyurl.com/CCOB2022. (Registration is not required to watch on Facebook, but we’d love to know if you’ll be joining us.)

Can’t make it? We’ll be making all the sessions available at MeemicFoundation.org/Together shortly after the event. Videos from the 2021 and 2020 events are available there, as well.

Don’t Miss the Meemic Masterpieces Virtual Gallery

In September, we celebrated the winners of this year’s Meemic Masterpieces grant round and art contest. This year’s theme was “For Our Safety,” in partnership with AAA-The Auto Club Group. Guest hosts included two of AAA’s Safety Patrollers of the Year.

Dozens of talented student artists shared their artwork and videos with important safety messages for their peers. You can see all the winners on our YouTube channel.
