Anxiously Waiting for the Holidays

Adapted from “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Clement Clarke Moore

’Twas the day before vacation and all through the school
Not a student was seen wandering the halls or restrooms.
All homework was completed with thoroughness and care
In hopes that their teachers would grade them and share.
The students were nestled all snug in their chairs
While visions of soon-to-be holidays danced in their heads.
With the principal at his microphone and I in my class
Had just begun to stare at the snow through the plexiglass
When out in the hall there arose such a clatter
The students and I ran to the door to see what was the matter.
From a sea of bus drivers, walking through the halls with glee
We knew what this meant … the buses were here early!

As we anxiously wait for the holidays to begin, I wish you peace and joy – now and always!

Thank you for all you do for education!
