The Meemic Foundation Reminds Wisconsin Educators to Apply for Grants before March 31 Deadline

MADISON, Wis., March 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The Meemic Foundation, a non-profit organization created by Meemic Insurance Company, is reminding educators from across the state to apply for a grant of up to $1,000 prior to the March 31 deadline.

The grant process is simple. Grant applications are evaluated based on a variety of criteria that are outlined on The Meemic Foundation website. Educators are encouraged to visit www.MeemicFoundation.com and apply for a grant that provides additional funding for extraordinary learning opportunities for students.

“Even though the school year is drawing to a close, educators can still apply for grants for items like spring field trips and professional development for themselves,” said Roy Hinz, spokesperson for The Meemic Foundation. “We were able to provide funding to many schools across Wisconsin with grants for a variety of educational initiatives for the 2013-14 school year. We are pleased to be able to lend a helping hand in the communities and offer financial support to exceptional Wisconsin educators for the upcoming year as well.”

The Foundation looks to fund innovative programs, events or projects that will significantly enrich students' classroom knowledge and learning. Any employee of a Wisconsin public, private, charter or parochial school, from pre-school to post-secondary education, may apply for a Meemic Foundation grant. Educators from the same school are welcome to submit proposals for different grant requests. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2014. Grant recipients will be notified in mid-May and funds will be available in May/June.

“The Meemic Foundation is committed to positively enhancing and furthering the educational experiences of Wisconsin students through our support of schools and educators,” said Hinz. “Since our inception, our programs have significantly impacted the learning of more than 1.5 million students. We look forward to continuing our relationships within the Wisconsin educational community for years to come.”

The support from The Meemic Foundation allows educators to be innovative and offer learning experiences that otherwise might not be possible due to funding limitations. Throughout the previous year, educators were awarded grants for a variety of programs including: replenishing school library collections, obtaining updated technology to better school programs and funding and supporting various new art and music endeavors.
