‘Adolescent Suicide Prevention for Schools and Communities’

The  Michigan Elementary & Middle School Principals Association (MEMSPA), Michigan Virtual and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan have partnered to address the alarming rates of adolescent suicide and provide guidance, resources and supports that can be quickly deployed to schools and communities. Suicide is the second-leading cause of death for youth and young adults in Michigan.

Developed in collaboration with subject matter experts from the Yale School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, the Adolescent Suicide Prevention Series features five asynchronous courses. These free courses provide school administration and staff with the tools to identify the signs of students who are at risk of suicidal ideation, suicidal gestures, or completed suicide, and offer action steps to prevent and address these serious concerns.

Visit www.michiganvirtual.org/adolescent-suicide-prevention to learn more about the courses.

Funding Options for Your Classroom

Traditional Grant Database
So many traditional grant programs offered by federal, state, private Foundations and others. S & S Worldwide has built a tremendous grant finder database, with tools available to help you refine your search based on your state, type of education institution and subject matter.

Association of American Educators
This association offers teacher scholarships and classroom grants, up to $500, to all educators, made available by the AAE Foundation.

Adopt a Classroom and Donors Choose are two of the more popular funding platforms available for educators.
