Dearborn Heights School Receives Grant
The Janet Toler-Stemen Agency presented Principal Kathleen Johnson of St. Sebastian Catholic School with a $500 For Our Schools grant. St. Sebastian Catholic School was nominated for the grant by teacher Maureen Sullivan.
What makes St. Sebastian Catholic School so special? Here’s what Maureen had to say:
“My name is Maureen Sullivan and I am a third grade teacher at St. Sebastian. This is my first year teaching at this school, and the administration and staff are truly amazing. The Principal, Kathi, goes out of her way to make her school special. As a Catholic school, funds are very tight. The parents and community are committed to helping their children have the best education possible. Our school does a phenomenal job helping with fundraising and extracurricular activities, from an auction to book fairs. Being a private school, we rely on families and organizations to help support our children. Basic supplies such as pencils, erasers and lined paper are needed on a daily basis. I just received a grant from reflex math. I would love extra earbuds for the students to use during this time. Listening to 17 students’ computers can make a teacher crazy! As a teacher, I am committed to helping my students any way I can. Your organization has shown by this grant that education is important. Children are the future of this world. We need to educate and guide them with the proper tools and lifelong skills to be productive citizens. Every donation helps make my job as a teacher easier. Thank you for your time.”
