The staff of the Mark Owen Agency take great pride in providing service to our existing clients and taking time with our new clients to fully explain and custom-fit their new policies. Personal service and teamwork are what we’re all about. Our goal is to answer the phone on the first ring and get right to work for you. If you stop by either of our sister offices, we’ll greet you at the door and get right to work for you.

People in the educational community, like yourselves, deserve the best. You are a great clientele and our programs are designed with you in mind. We take great pride in our claims service and strive to be there for you in your time of need. Saving money is a wonderful thing and frequent policy reviews will allow us to find discounts or update your current and changing insurance needs. We feel it is very important to counsel you, while letting you make your own choices in this process.

Please keep these things in mind:

• With the price of gas and the value of your time, do not hesitate to utilize either sister office for customer service. My team is knowledgeable, friendly and will treat you with the respect you deserve.
• If you have not already bundled your polices, we recommend you do so. You’ll save money on every policy this way.
• Remember to let us know if you’ve made changes or updates to your home, purchased items that require scheduling such as jewelry, finished a basement and need water backup/sewer coverage, built a shed or outside structure, or just have questions.
• We can insure items such as boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs or golf carts (which require special coverage).
• We have great rates for young people when they begin to drive.
• It is always important to update your household members. As we do, we’ll look for discounts.
• If you retire and no longer drive to work, you may be eligible for a discount. Also, changes to your medical coverage may be recommended.
• We strive to update your profile with every contact to ensure that your coverage is customized to meet your current needs.

We are more than happy to make special arrangements to come to your home or schedule appointments that may better fit your schedule outside our regular business hours.

Mark Owen

Agency Principal

Mark Owen Mark has been a Meemic Agent since August 1996. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1977 and received a bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University. He is licensed with the State of Michigan to sell personal lines property, casualty and life insurance. Mark’s educational career includes time as a teacher, coach and technology coordinator. He has served more than 25 years in public education! Mark and wife Marla, who retired as second-grade teacher from Imlay City, are proud parents of Mark Jr. and Tyler. Mark Jr. graduated from Florida Atlantic with a bachelor of science in economics and now works at GovSpend in Deerfield Beach, Fla. Tyler graduated from Michigan State University and also works at GovSpend down in Florida.

Staff

Charlene Carlson Charlene has worked in the insurance industry since 1976 and was at Meemic headquarters for 15 years prior to joining the Owen Agency. She currently resides in Rochester with her daughter. Charlene is very talented not only with insurance, but also with arts and crafts. She frequents craft shows with her bracelets, trees and many other homemade items that she makes from scratch!

Betty Isaacs Betty has been with the Owen Agency for 10 years and in the insurance industry overall for 20 years. She is licensed and works out of both of our offices – Davison and Flint. Betty currently resides in Otter Lake with her husband, John. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, painting, gardening and the outdoors.

Patty Russell Patty is the office manager in our Davison office. She has been with the agency for 19 years and in the industry for 44. There are no insurance questions that she can’t answer! Her expertise in this field is second to none. She lives in Attica and enjoys spending time with her two sons.

Tim Houghtaling Tim, our newest employee, joined the Owen Agency in 2021. He is a graduate from Bendle High School and Mott Community College, and has been in the insurance industry for 12 years. He currently resides in Burton with his daughter. In his free time, Tim loves throwing bags. He runs the “ATF Cornhole” group, where they set up weekly tournaments and events throughout the year at local establishments.

Cathy Newberry Cathy is currently the office manager in our Flint office and has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. She started her career as an underwriter at Meemic and has been with the Mark Owen Agency since 2009. She currently resides in Howell and has two children, Justin and Julia. In her free time, she enjoys biking, walking her dogs, going to the theater and Michigan football.

Amanda Yeager Amanda has been with Meemic since 2005, and in 2013, she achieved her goal of becoming a licensed representative. She is a big believer in customer service and loves when she can save you money! She is married to her husband, Pat, and has two children, Evalyn and Ethan. Her children are both very active in sports, and Amanda loves going to their games and events to watch them play. She also enjoys camping and traveling with her family and friends during the summer months and exploring all that Michigan has to offer.

Kristin Haugen Kristin has been in our Flint office since 2015 and is a licensed representative for the agency. She is an Air Force veteran and a graduate of Michigan State University, and she calls Millington home. She has two daughters, Hailey and Maia. Kristin loves animals, and enjoys the outdoors, traveling, rock collecting and spending time with her family and dogs.

Ben Deppong Ben graduated from Imlay City High School in 2008 and graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2013. He received a bachelor’s degree in business marketing. He is a licensed representative at the Mark Owen Agency and has his hand in a little bit of everything. Look for Ben to stop by your school, as he’s involved in our local marketing activities.
