Dwain Ackerman and his wife Heather have lived in Carol Stream, Illinois, since 2005. Dwain has a son and namesake who is a special needs educator and Special Olympics coach at Indian Prairie School District. He is also fortunate to have a beautiful stepdaughter Camryn, who excels academically.
The Michigan native has spent over 30 years in the insurance business. Approximately, one-half of Dwain’s career was spent as an agent and business owner and the other half in various leadership and training roles. Prior to joining Meemic in 2013, he spent six years as an education consultant at one the largest property casualty companies in the United States. Now, 30 years later, he has decided to go back to doing what he loves — working with individuals to help them achieve and protect their financial goals.
Dwain is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He has also received his Life Underwriter Training Council Fellowship and has been certified as a trainer of Franklin Covey’s Great Leaders, 7 Habits and Focus programs. Dwain has also been certified as a trainer for the VitalSmarts education series.
For Dwain, whose father was also an educator early in his professional career, owning and operating a Meemic agency seemed a natural and ideal use of his skills and abilities. As the owner of a Meemic insurance agency, serving those who develop others and shape the future is both personally and professionally rewarding.
