Founded by educators. On April 7, 1950, a group of seven teachers formed MEEMIC based on their belief that they could provide an invaluable service to their fellow educators by offering high-quality, affordable insurance protection. Their commitment fuels the spirit that still resides in MEEMIC today.

Sold by educators. MEEMIC's policyholders rely on the professional guidance of our network of sales agents located throughout the state of Michigan in selecting the right coverages and savings options. Most of the approximately 95 sales agents are members of the educational community, and therefore have the advantage of peer selling (teachers serving teachers and their families).

Committed to educators. MEEMIC's commitment to the educational community is also noted through the activities of the MEEMIC Foundation for the Future of Education. This is a non-profit organization established in 1992 to support individuals and organizations dedicated to the educational profession. The MEEMIC Foundation currently offers financial assistance to educational employees and educational institutions in the form of mini- grants. Many schools throughout the state of Michigan have benefited from this source of funding.
