MASSP Assistant Principal of the Year
Mr. Eric Sturm The Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) selected Eric Sturm, Assistant Principal at Kimball High School in Royal Oak as Assistant Principal of the Year in a ceremony held in October 2005 at the Crystal Mountain Resort. MEEMIC personally awarded Mr. Sturm a check for $1,000. Thomas Neville, Kimball High School principal, nominated Mr. Sturm. In his nomination letter, Mr. Neville wrote that he "…have never come across a young person with more complete skills, a greater understanding of teenagers, more compassion, and more expertise when it comes to instructional knowledge." Leah H. Doster Barnett, an English teacher and Department Chair at Kimball also shared her views about Mr. Sturm. "Today, the student and staff diversity groups are strong and many potential problems have been resolved because of the honest, thoughtful discussions that Eric made possible. We rely on Eric to use his creativity and thoughtful style to cool tempers, streamline our curriculum efforts, and celebrate our successes." MEEMIC joins the MASSP in congratulating Mr. Sturm on this prestigious honor.
